From farmer’s markets, art walks, music or food festivals it seems there’s never a lack of fun things to do along the Beaches of South Walton, Florida. So there’s definitely no reason to be bored around here! Our featured activities this upcoming weekend all take place in Santa Rosa Beach – one of South Walton’s 16 beach neighborhoods.

The weekend kicks off Friday morning at the Santa Rosa Golf Club at the Fore Her Benefit golf tournament. Later in the evening and on Saturday plan to head on over to Gulf Place Town Center at the corner of Scenic Highway 30A and Highway 393 to imbibe in the inaugural 30A Craft Beer and Spirits Festival. Santa Rosa Beach, FL – A local organization known as “A Better South Walton” (ABSW) will hold two Town Hall meetings to update the community on progress for a proposed initiative to establish a new municipality in Walton County. Defuniak Springs, Freeport and Paxton are currently the only incorporated communities in Walton County. According to the groups’ website the mission of “A Better South Walton” is to seek more effective governance and local representation for South Walton to preserve and enhance its unique character, property values and quality of life.

The beautiful beaches of the scenic 30A region of South Walton County just got a little better.

In a regular meeting on August 9th, the Walton County Board of County Commissioners (WCBCC) gave final approval to the proposed purchase of a section of beachfront land near the community of Seagrove Beach located immediately to the west of Eastern Lake, and includes the Eastern Lake outfall.  The BCC is also currently working to finalize the purchase of adjacent parcels to the east of the recently purchased parcel in the Eastern Lake area.

Seaside, FL Post OfficeSeaside, FL - On October 23rd, locals, town merchants and curious visitors gathered in front of one of Scenic 30A's most iconic spots to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the Seaside Post Office.

Built in 1985 during a time when Scenic 30A was much less developed; the post office was intended to serve as a landmark. It would become popular gathering place and a way to provide a "sense of place" for the fledgling new community.

Situated literally in the geographical center of Seaside, the post office was designed by the town's founder, Robert Davis.

Generations of families have created memories, traditions and fun along the beaches of Scenic 30A but it hasn’t always been the ultra-vibrant, buzzing area that most know today. In the early 80’s the coastline was sparsely developed. Shops and restaurants who catered to visitors during busy spring and summer vacation months would “shutter” their businesses and close from Labor Day until the beginning of March.
