Seagrove Beach Offers a Laid-Back Escape with Genuine Old Florida Atmosphere
Seagrove Beach, Florida, has been drawing families with its simple and genuine beach lifestyle for generations. In the words of its Founder, CH McGee, Seagrove is "where mother nature did her best." The community was founded in the late 1940s by McGee and is known for its well-preserved nature of oak, hickory, and magnolia trees. With approximately two miles of coastline, there is likely more beachfront than any other neighboring community, and even locals tend to come to the area for its laid-back lifestyle. Seagrove Beach has a wide array of home styles, from old beach cottages to traditional family homes and even brand-new modern luxury builds; there is a little something for everyone in this coastal town.
Boundaries
Seagrove Beach has Seaside as its west boundary and Watersound Beach as its eastern boundary.
Architectural Style
Architectural style in Seagrove Beach varies with time, but many of these homes are reminiscent of European and Mediterranean influences. For example, some residences are old-school beach-style cottages, often one story tall, with picket fences and decorated with cute flower boxes on window sills. Some dwellings are cozy, traditional family homes with large wraparound porches and a second story to help catch the beautiful views of the beach sunset. The most recent builds are very modern, built with high-end luxury in mind, with multiple levels, large windows, and sleek designs. No matter your home preference, there is something for all buyers in Seagrove Beach. The town succeeds in blending these home styles by building around the natural landscape to help preserve the wild floral and fauna and maintain privacy for its residents.

History & Uniqueness
In the 1950s, Seagrove Beach was a remote beach community offering quiet seclusion. There was no 30A. If you wanted to travel to Grayton Beach or Blue Mountain, you had to walk the beach or drive north on 395 to 98. Mr. McGee developed Seagrove Beach along with his son Cube McGee, Jr. over a 50-year period with seven different additions.
Today, one notable feature is the number of beach accesses available to the public in Seagrove Beach. There are approximately 22 pedestrian or neighborhood access points and one regional (with public parking, bathrooms, handicap access, etc.) Another regional beach access is coming soon across from Cafe 30A.
Seagrove is home to one of 14 coastal dune lakes in South Walton and surrounding towns. Coastal dune lakes are found in only a few places worldwide, making Eastern Lake a rare gem! The dunes serve as barriers to natural disasters and are heavily protected in order to best preserve the community.
