Applications will be accepted by mail, in person, or online through May 10, 2024. Applicants must be full-time Walton County residents and meet all requirements as outlined in Ordinance 2022-02. Applications will not be accepted unless all eligibility requirements are met and all documentation is provided at the time of submission. Incomplete applications will not be eligible for the lottery drawing.
If you're ready to apply, visit the county's Code Compliance Beach Permits website and follow the straightforward process.
Where can you enjoy beach driving? You'll find prime spots at Grayton Beach near the iconic Red Bar restaurant and Inlet Beach at the end of South Walton Lakeshore Drive. Due to limited parking, the Inlet Beach location serves more as a drop-off point for boat launching, but it still offers a fantastic beach experience. Please note that a separate permit is required to launch a boat at either location.
Permits are in high demand, so they are limited to 150 for county residents and property owners. If you're selected, you'll be required to pay the fee for the one-year permit. Additionally, grandfathered permits are available for those fortunate individuals who held permits before the implementation of the lottery system. However, it's crucial to remember that failing to renew your permit will result in losing grandfather privileges, requiring you to enter the lottery again the following year.
