The Walton County Planning Department will be on hand September 11, 13 and 14, 2017, hosting a series of workshops to conduct a group discussion, answer questions and listen to community input on the proposed changes to the Land Development Code.  The primary goal of the workshops is to ensure that everyone in the community who wishes to give input about the Land Development Code and the updates that are being made has a chance to do so.

native plants & parks of Rosemary Beach, FL

[There are many subtle design elements about Rosemary Beach, FL that make it a distinctive and unique gulf front community. In the mid 1990’s as it was being planned, a great deal of care and effort was made by the development and landscape design teams to feature the native plants and trees that thrive in the area and to create inviting open spaces, parks and greens for everyone to enjoy. With this week’s post, we’ve invited one of Rosemary Beach’s original landscape designers, Stephen Poulakos, to share insights on the parks and green spaces he designed.]map of Rosemary Beach, FL boardwalks, parks & green spaces

Rosemary Beach, Florida is a beach town built for the ages. It holds a dear and special place in my heart and is where my infatuation with New Urbanism began. Having grown up in suburban Atlanta,

If you’ve been visiting the beaches of South Walton for a while, the thought of buying a vacation home would most likely be intriguing. The beautiful Emerald Coast of Northwest Florida is less than a day’s drive for many people and their families. For those who live a little further away, Beaches International Airport (ECP) in Panama City Beach is an easy 20 minute drive from our area.

It seems to make sense that if you plan on making it down to the Emerald Coast several times a year, buying may be a wiser option than renting. Why spend money on rent for a vacation beach house, when you could own your own? If you’re thinking of buying a home at the beach here are five questions to think about! Finding the right home at the beach depends on several

A recent article from the National Association of Realtors stated many of the National "HOT” Markets, such as San Francisco and New York have rebounded from the last recession and prices are back to pre-recession levels. This spurred me to find out how our communities of South Walton compare!

I primarily focus on the Emerald Coast real estate market, particularly the communities of Santa Rosa Beach, Scenic 30A and Southern Walton County. In analyzing these areas, I have compiled historical data using both our local Multiple Listing Service (MLS) and statistics from Metro Market Trends, which allows me access to accurate and up-to-date data, including public records.

south walton is growing

The Beaches of South Walton have been experiencing a lot of growth and change over the last couple of years. How does that change look?

We’ve put together some stats that are pretty amazing.

South Walton County by the Numbers

More and more people are discovering the 30A area as both a vacation destination and as a highly desirable place to live, work, play, and raise their families. Ten to fifteen years ago, it wasn’t uncommon for businesses to close during the “off season” (traditionally Labor Day to March 1); but now, due to a full line-up of nearly year-round concerts, major events, art fairs and festivals, the “shoulder seasons” are becoming more and more narrow. The group will ultimately be responsible for producing a Design Guide that is meant to direct the artistic vision of key public features in the area including signage, walkovers and landscaping.

They've asked for the public's help! Make sure to do your part and fill out this quick survey. Basically, the survey looks for guidance on the
